2. The First Jack-o'-Lanterns Were Made From Turnips!

In Ireland and Scotland, people carved scary faces into turnips and potatoes to scare away evil spirits. When they immigrated to America, they discovered pumpkins, and the tradition took off!

3. Pumpkins Can Grow Really, Really Big!

The heaviest pumpkin ever recorded weighed over 2,700 pounds. That's about the size of a small car!

4. The Inner Kernels of Pumpkin Seeds Are Called Pepitas

Pepitas are the edible inner kernels often sold as pumpkin seeds. They are rich in magnesium, zinc, protein, and healthy fats.
